When I setup my 8g planted nano, I decided to go with Erethistes jerdoni for something different. I was initially a tad concerned as the articles I read indicated that they do not like a high nitrate environment, but they are currently doing quite well in this CO2 injected planted tank. I like them a great deal. Anybody else keep them?
Here are a couple of shots of mine from around December. They share the tank with Boraras merah, B. maculatus, and Limnopilos naiyanetri. Yes, all tiny creatures in this tank! All my tanks are kept without heaters, so they are in cooler water. They took the 62 degree house temperature in early January in stride, as did the other fish. I was impressed. They also take the prepared pellets (hikari micro pellets) without a problem.
A shot of their planted home.
Great little fish! Thanks Frank.
I'd like to eventually try the larger species, Erethistes hara, in my 36g.
